Does Getting tattoo Hurt?

Does Getting tattoo hurt?
Yes, getting a tattoo typically involves some level of pain or discomfort, though the intensity varies depending on individual pain tolerance, the location of the tattoo, and the duration of the tattooing session. Tattoo needles puncture the skin repeatedly to deposit ink, which naturally causes a sensation often described as a persistent scratching or stinging. Areas with thinner skin or closer to bones, like the ribs, ankles, wrists, and spine, tend to be more sensitive. Pain perception also varies from person to person; what might be a bit uncomfortable for one, might be quite painful for another. Most people find the experience bearable, and some even enjoy the sensation. Using techniques like deep breathing can help manage any discomfort.
Pain level of first Tattoo
For beginners curious about their first experience
Your first tattoo is always nerve racking, and it is understandable. As One million things goes through your mind, everyone say something different things about their own experience getting tattooed, and you wonder what to think for yourself? The truth is that, every tattoo experience is unique, not only from the client side however from the tattoo artist side as well.
In this article, I’m going to cover detail by detail, how to best handle your first tattoo experience on a pain level.
On the clients side
The pain level of your first tattoo, on the client’s side, it will depend on
How healthy you are
How much alcohol you usually drink
How calm you are, how good your nerves are
Your first tattoo experience, pain level speaking, will depend on how healthy and how much you have looked after your health in your life time. For example, if you have smoked cigarettes your whole life, you will for sure feel more pain, than someone who is not a smoker, because smoking, it affects your nerve system, and the better your nerve system is, the least your pain level will be on your first tattoo.
The pain level on your first tattoo will also be prominent if you are a heavy drinker, as alcohol can affect your nerve system. The more balanced your nerve system is, the least painful your first tattoo experience will be.
So if you are a heavy drinker, it’s important to keep away from alcohol from at least a week prior to the tattoo session. As we all know, alcohol is not a good contributor for the tattoo process. Alcohol thins your blood in your whole body, so even one pint of beer, it will affect your tattoo session the following day. And staying away from alcohol one week before getting tattooed, it will help your tattoo artist to work better on your skin, speeding up the tattoo process, so you will be getting more of your money’s worth, instead, if you decide to drink a few days before your tattoo session, your tattoo artist will spend a good part of your tattoo session trying to get rid of the blood coming out of your skin.
On Tattoo Artists side
Choosing your Tattoo Artist is such an important subject, that we would need a separate article to cover everything about choosing the right tattoo artist for you, however, choosing your tattoo artist Sosuccess of your tattoo.
The pain level of your first tattoo, on the Tattoo Artist side, it will depend on
1-How heavy handed your tattoo artist is
2-The Quality of the needles your tattoo artist uses
3-How your tattoo artist wipes the tattoo
4-If your tattoo artist is organised enough, to work area by area
5-How subtle the tattoo artist applies ink on already damaged skin
1-Every tattoo artist approaches the skin in such a different way, some tattoo artists believe they have to get the ink in, and some believe they have to let the machine do the work. So the tattoo artist’s mind set when approaching your tattoo, will dictate the pain level of your tattoo. Some Tattoo Artists penetrate the needle a lot deeper than others. Some tattoo artists work quiet fast, and some take their time. If you get tattooed by someone who works faster than others, is most likely that the pain level will be higher, than a tattoo artist who take his time.
I’m by nature not a heavy handed tattoo artist, and that’s because I believe in holding the weight of my hands, and let the weight go, bit by bit, until I feel that the ink is going in naturally, then I know that’s the depth I should be travelling the needle in the skin.
If a tattoo artist is heavy handed or not. Sometimes it has to do if they are natural artists or not. Some Tattoo artists can not draw, so in consequence they are quiet heavy handed. Where the tattoo artist who is used to holding a pencil and a painting brush, have to learn that to paint and to draw achieving subtle areas, your hand has to be softer and more delicate, and only through being an artist outside of tattooing, that the tattoo artist would be able to be light handed.
2- The Quality of the needles is so important in the tattoo process, as the needle is what is directly entering the skin. Tattoo needles have evolved tremendously over the years, and a good quality needle nowadays is very expensive, therefore, a good quality expensive needle, can dictate the quality of your tattoo, and it will have an effect on the pain level. Good quality needles, are precisely cut by laser, and that process is expensive and very precised, so if your tattoo artist is responsible enough to buy a good quality needle, the pain level of your tattoo will be a lot lower, than if you get tattooed by a cheaper needle, which the process will be a lot cheaper, therefore, it will cost more on your skin, as your skin will damaged a lot quicker and you will be feeling more uncomfortable in a consequence of a cheaper needle. The best needle to use on the Tattoo market are Kwadron needles
3- It is important to dab the kitchen roll more often than to wipe the tattoo, as wiping it is definitely more painful and uncomfortable. So dabbing the tattoo with a dry Kitchen roll, it would help the excess ink to be sucked in the kitchen roll.
4-An organised tattoo artist, who works area by area. Finishing one area, then advance to the next area, it will contribute to lower pain levels on your tattoo.
5- Tattooing requires a lot of care when entering the needle to the skin. And skin damage is something to consider a lot when tattooing someone. In realism specially, it requires a lot of layers to the tattoo. 3D tattoos are built by layers, so in order to apply a layer of ink on top of already damaged skin, it will depend on how gentle the artist will approach the skin.
